October Women's Fellowship

The Women’s Ministry of Redemption Fellowship would like to thank Mrs. Yetsenia Tavarez for hosting our fellowship on October 10th.  Yetsenia and her family prepared a wonderfully delicious meal for us made up of foods from her home country.  Thank you also to our members who brought those delicious desserts.

We would like to thank all of those who were able to come out and share in this moment with us.  We had a great time fellowshiping, sharing, and spending time with one another – though some of us were  not prepared for our shoeless icebreaker. (smile)

Our devotion was presented by Ms. Cassandra Keel on the subject of leadership.  A summary of the subject is presented here:

Leadership

Pause and think about what qualities best describe a great leader to you.
Pause and think about someone you consider to be a great leader and why.

Scripture references:  Romans 12: 3-8 and I Corinthians 11:1

Qualities of a Christian leader should include:
•    Following Jesus and demonstrating a submissive life to those in authority over them
•    Leading by example (a lifestyle pleasing to the Lord)
•    Caring with compassion for those they are responsible for leading
•    Loving the ones they lead enough to give correction when needed

Perhaps you are a leader in the church, workplace, home, organization, or all of the listed areas.  If you are a leader, take a few minutes to think about whether you believe the Lord is pleased with your service as a leader.  Does the Lord have His finger on any area of your life regarding your leadership responsibilities and the need to improve?  Let’s pause, think, and pray about it.

When the Lord grants us the privilege and honor to function as a leader, attached to that privilege are great responsibilities.  Sometimes in the work environment, we may be in a position of leadership of people who are not saved.  We need to all remind ourselves that the Bible they are reading is us.  In some instances the workplace can be a place of great challenge for Christian leaders.  If the Lord has placed us in a hostile environment to lead, He has also graced and equipped us to lead victoriously.

As we all spend time this month appreciating the leaders in our lives, let us also spend some time asking the Lord to reveal to us how to improve in the various leadership roles that we hold.  Ultimately, desiring to be a successful leader goes far beyond just being successful.  Being a successful leader should ultimately be about many coming to know and grow in Christ as a result of our leadership.

Again, we thank all those who were able to attend our October fellowship.  We look forward to the next one, which takes place on Saturday, December 12th at 4:30 p.m.  Location for this event will be announced.  Please mark your calendars.

Please also remember our church decorating event which takes place on Saturday, December 5th at 10 a.m.
