Romans 12:1-2 states, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
What is Transformation? The Greek word used for this phenomenon is metamorphoo and is defined as “changing into another form, to transfigure.” Brothers and Sisters, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we are able to change. We could not stay where we were because that was a place of sin, rebellion and therefore a place of wrath and curses. We were dead in our thinking, and extremely self-centered; nothing mattered but getting our way, and our way led only to death. But God in His amazing love and rich mercy elected and called us from sin death to life so that we could represent Him in this present world. Transformation looks like Jesus. It is depicted by what the scriptures call the Fruit of the Spirit–love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. How wonderful the change is as it is happening and how awesome it is for those around you to experience a transforming person who is known by a godly character rather than by the low standards of this culture. This transformation can only occur through hearing the gospel of Christ and by submitting to the work of the Holy Spirit as we experience the gospel message of grace. Show your children what transformation looks like by hearing and walking in God’s word. It will be tough and challenging but by grace you have been enabled to participate in this supernatural event. In view of God’s mercy, let’s be transformed!!!
