Hat – itude

when you wear a nice hat.

naked than hatless.
For these women, a church hat,
flamboyant as it may be,
is no mere fashion accessory;
It’s a cherished African American custom,
one observed with boundless passion by black women
of various religious denominations.
A woman’s hat speaks long before its wearer utters a word.

New City’s Pastor, Randy Nabors, gave us a wonderful word for Black History Month.

Redemption Fellowship Church and New City Fellowship held a joint worship service on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 6 p.m. in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Services were held at New City Fellowship Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This is the first meeting of 2010. Mentor Julie Aziz prepared and led a lesson on self-esteem. We had a guest speaker as well, Adriane Lawton, who led an interactive time with the girls regarding the subject of self-esteem.
